Google is making more advances into the lucrative daily deals market.
The company has purchased The Dealmap to give industry leaders such as Groupon and LivingSocial competition. Terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. A blog entry from The Dealmap states that joining Google will help it innovate in new and unexplored areas of commerce. The Dealmap collects offers from various daily deal websites. It boasts more than two-million users. Its app has been downloaded to Apple’s iPhone and Google Android phones more than a million times. Google started its own daily deal business called Google Offers earlier this year after trying unsuccessfully to buy Groupon last year.
