Lulz Security Spokesman Arrested

Scotland Yard’s cybercrime unit has arrested a teenager it says is the spokesman for the Lulz Security hacking collective.

The 19-year-old was arrested in Scotland’s remote Shetland Islands. His name was not released but the force says he uses the online name Topiary. LulzSec has claimed responsibility for cyber attacks including the bogus PBS story that Tupac Shakur had been found alive in New Zealand, and an attack on Sony Pictures in which thousands of people’s usernames, passwords and phone numbers of sweepstakes entrants were posted online. Topiary’s normally prolific Twitter feed was nearly wiped clean, with one week-old post left: “You cannot arrest an idea.” Scotland Yard says it’s also interviewing a 17-year-old in central England in connection with the investigation.
