So Much For The Digital Get Down

Rhode Island is cracking down on teen “sexting.”

Governor Lincoln Chafee recently signed a new law that makes it illegal for anyone under age 18 to send sexually explicit messages or photos of themselves electronically.  Under the law, police can charge any minor caught sexting on their phones or computers with a “status” offense.  Teens who receive the sexually explicit messages and send them on to other people face even tougher penalties under Rhode Island’s child pornography law.
