Hackers are using Osama bin Laden’s death to launch a computer virus.
There are reports of malicious software tactics promising videos and photos of the dead terrorist. The White House is not releasing any videos or pics of bin Laden. In one case, Facebook users receive a link to a bin Laden photo from a friend, but it’s bogus. When users follow the link they end up inadvertently providing personal account information to the cyber crooks. Industry experts say the tactics are “phishing schemes,” which generally follow big events like the World Cup and the Japan earthquake.
