A California admits he’s guilty of conspiring to commit copyright infringement, for distributing pirated music over a five-year-period.
Richard Montejano was a member and leader of an Internet music release group known as “Old School Classic” or “OSC.” OSC was what’s known as a “warez” group that specialized in the unauthorized reproduction and distribution of copyrighted music using the Internet. Montejano admits he maintained a computer server at his home to which, other OSC members uploaded their pirated music.
Montejano also admits that a member of OSC uploaded the Kanye West album “Graduation” to Mantejano’s server in August 2007, more than a week before it came out commercially. Mantejano faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a 250-thousand-dollar fine.
