The early social networking site Friendster is purging users’ old posts and photos as it looks to reinvent itself.
Friendster owner MOL Global of Malaysia says it plans to morph the once-popular website into a service focused on entertainment. Other social networking sites have taken similar paths after being almost universally eclipsed by Facebook. Friendster has created an app to let its members download their old profiles, photos, messages, comments, blogs, testimonials and other information before the overhaul. Otherwise, users will lose everything but basic profile information and their list of friends on May 31st.
