“Time” magazine is atwitter over Twitter.
The publication has unveiled its list of the 140 Twitter feeds it says “are shaping the conversation.” The list is broken down by categories that include celebrities, fictional characters, politicians, and athletes. Leading the list of top tweeting celebrities is actor Neil Patrick Harris, followed by Alyssa Milano. Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga also make the cut. Sarah Palin, John McCain, Newt Gingrich and Corey Booker are shoring up the politicians’ category on “Time’s” 140 Best Twitter Feeds. Steve Nash, Chad Ochocinco, Shaquille O’Neal and Dara Torres are among the athletes representing the sports category. Separately, “Time” is conducting a poll that allows readers to rank the top tweeters from the its list of 140. Canadian blogger Kelly Oxford, known for her tweets on motherhood, led the list early on with more than 800 votes. Pop star Lady Gaga, who recently passed the nine-million follower mark on Twitter, ranked fourth on the readers’ list with more than 440 votes. She was followed by fictional pop culture pundit and Twitter star Drunk Hulk at number five with 400 votes.
